Who is Jesus?  This must be one of the greatest questions of all time.  The world changed when Jesus lived, two thousand years ago.  Christianity sprung up like a wildfire in the generations after him.  All over the world you can find people who follow him and who will talk about a radical change in their life after encountering him.  Huge institutions of church and state have grown up around his name and title “Christ.”  Cultures and nations have risen and fallen, but his following has never ceased.  Great good and terrible evil have been done in association with his name (though the latter was done against his teaching).  So who is this person, Jesus, who makes such an incredible impact on our world?

The Vine is a network of people who pursue faith in the Bible’s story of Jesus, who do our best to follow his teachings, and who are trying to carry on his mission in the world.  Not everyone at The Vine has reached an answer yet to this question, “Who is Jesus?”  We recognize that faith is not a one-time event, but rather a process or a journey.  So each of us at The Vine is still exploring that question and feeling its impact at various stages of our journey.

One thing we do know, and that is that faith in Jesus is about a relationship.  We’re exploring a relationship and not a religion.  It’s the relationship with Jesus that transforms us.  We meet him, we listen for his voice, and we feel his love.  Jesus is our avenue for finding God.

Because the answer to “Who is Jesus?” can’t be summed up in a sentence or website or book, we encourage you to journey with us or another community of Jesus' followers as you explore this question further.  The Alpha Course is also an excellent opportunity to learn more about Jesus and what it means to follow him.
